Who is Nature School for?
Nature school is for anyone who has children from the ages of two through five and is interested in a truly life changing nature experience for both parent and child. If you are interested check out Our Values. JNS is great for children who are in preschool, kindergarten, and homeschoolers.
What do children learn in Nature School?
Children learn a variety of things in our school. Our program teaches things like social play and self-efficacy and increases children's self-esteem. Time in nature has been proven to help children learn and be more creative. Since our program is led by people with a background in early childhood education, we also work on building up to preschool benchmarks. Nature School is also a great place to begin your child's STEM education.
Is Nature School Safe?
The safety of your child is our main concern. We cannot guarantee perfect safety as when playing outside very minor falls and scrapes are common but we do our best to make sure that your child is operating in the safest environment possible. That is why we have three safeguards, you the parent, our assistant teacher and the main instructor who will all be present to care for your child.
What is your policy on technology?
Although we love technology, most children are already digital natives, Joy Nature School exists to lead children to learn in the natural world. We ask that while you and your child are in class all devices are kept at home or in the car out of their reach except in case of emergencies
What if the weather is bad?
Though part of nature school is learning and playing in the elements there may be some times when extreme weather causes us to cancel. When this happens you will be notified and class will be rescheduled or made up at a different time.
What should my child wear?
It is very important that your child dress for the elements. We will be outside for the whole class, every day. In the spring it is important to bring a light jacket even if it seems warm. Children should wear clothes that they are allowed to get dirty. Everyone should come in comfortable shoes.
Can I bring my other children?
Yes! We welcome you to bring your other children to class. Children under the age of one are free. Children over the age of one get our family discount, which is 25% off of the regular price of admission. If you plan to bring more than one child over the age of one, please register them.
